TOP10 in the finale

Tamás Gender Junior started the racing weekend of the IAME Series with a victory in the first free practice on Friday in Lonato, where he could almost get on the podium with the right settings. The Hungarian go-kart driver could complete his first overnight racing weekend with a great performance and with numerous overtakings.

Tamás Gender Junior was racing in Lonato in X30 Junior category, where he competed successfully with 40 drivers as soon as in the first free practice after achieving very high speed during all the tests. He could gain P1 in the first free practice on Friday in Italy with the best time. The mechanics of Team Driver wanted to make the settings of the frame even better, but it turned out not to be such a good idea. However, the young but experienced driver, although racing with unusual racing technics and tyres, was able to have a good start and after a confident race he could get P8 during the qualifying. – I hope the team will find the optimal settings for Saturday’s warm-ups and the race, and I can leave Italy with a good result – said the Hungarian driver, supported by the Hungarian Motorsport Academy, before Saturday’s races. He finally ended the day in P13.

The mechanics were able to improve the settings by Saturday, so after the first race he left South Garda Karting as P4, which means he could get up four positions compared to his grid position, before getting ready to start in the finale. After losing his bumper he got a 5-second penalty and started the final race from P17. At the start the row ahead of him got stuck, so he fell back behind P20. However, thanks to his technics, experience, and persistence he could get up to P10 during the race, which is a good sign before the next racing weekend in Franciacorta at the end of August.

Although currently having a short summer break, the young driver of Hungarian Motorsport Academy is preparing himself for the next racing weekend.
