Tamás Gender Junior faces a new challenge
Tamás Gender Junior will race in his first night race in the X30 Junior category this weekend in Italy. The young Hungarian kart racer will compete in the international field of the IAME Series Italy with nearly 180 competitors and against 40 rivals in his category at the South Garda Karting International Circuit in round 7 of the championship.
The venue and the team are not unfamiliar to Tamás Gender Junior, who will be racing for Team Driver Racing Kart this weekend, as he has been on the track several times during tests and races in Lonato, where he will return to his former Mini category team. For the Hungarian driver, who is supported by the HUMDA Motorsport Academy, the South Garda Karting circuit is almost his home track, he completed his first ever race in the popular OK Junior category there. But now he will be racing in a new category, the X30 Junior, which means a different engine and tyres to the usual, so the weekend will be a new challenge for him, as well as his first night race.
The track which was built in 1988, is one of the most important karting tracks internationally and has recently been renovated to provide a fully-fledged venue for the international field of competitors that will be racing in Lonato this weekend. South Garda Karting hosts various international races every year, and in recent years has hosted a number of Italian, European and World Championships, which have always attracted fans of the sport from all over the world.
The field now has 21 nations, including Great Britain, Italy, Switzerland, Romania, Ireland, France, Sweden, Czech Republic, Turkey, Poland, Bulgaria, Estonia, Israel, Cyprus, Morocco, Greenland, Germany, Indonesia, Monaco and of course Hungary, with the best competitors from these countries proving their skills.
- I feel fully prepared both physically and mentally, with all the support from my team, Fit4Race, 321 Perform and Hungarian Motorsport Academy - said Tamás Gender Junior before the race, adding that he is very motivated for this weekend's race, which will be a big challenge for him due to the unknown factors, but he is well prepared and wants to do his best in the new racing conditions.
