Strong starts and tough battles for Tamás Gender Jr. in the 2025 season opener

Representing the VictoryLane Karting team, Tamás Gender Junior began his 2025 karting season at the first round of the WSK Super Master Series, held at the La Conca circuit. Racing in the OK category with a Kart Republic chassis and an IAME engine, Tamás delivered a strong performance despite facing several challenges.

The Italian La Conca track hosted the opening round of the WSK Super Master Series, a venue known for seeing several Formula 1 drivers – among them Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who is debuting for Mercedes this year – take to the circuit in the past. Given the event’s history, it was no surprise that multiple drivers’ children competed over the weekend, including Bernardo, son of former F1 driver Enrique Bernoldi, and Ella, daughter of two-time F1 World Champion Mika Häkkinen, both entering the OK class.

Moreover, both youngsters raced alongside Tamás Gender Junior in the C-D Heat, where Tamás got off to an outstanding start and fought hard in several on-track battles, achieving a top-10 position. However, during the tussle, his kart’s bumper was pushed in, triggering a penalty per the regulations and placing him 11th in the final classification.

In Saturday’s first Heat, Tamás finished 14th but did not give up. In the second Heat that same day, he had another solid start and ended up 12th. On Sunday, he started from the seventh row in the Pre-Final, ultimately taking the checkered flag in 12th place. The young racer headed into the Final highly motivated.

In the Final, things did not go his way: he was forced off track in Turn 3 at the start and lost several positions. Nonetheless, thanks to his experience and well-prepared racecraft, he was able to make up nine spots and finished as strongly as he could.

“Although the conditions were tough this weekend, I feel I learned a lot, which will serve as a great foundation for the upcoming races. I’m very grateful to the VictoryLane Karting team for their excellent work, to Kart Republic and IAME for providing competitive equipment, and to Zele Bau for their support. I’ll definitely put the lessons learned into practice at the next round, and I’m already looking forward to the challenges ahead.”

The second round of the 2025 WSK Super Master Series will take place from February 5–9 at the Sarno circuit near Naples, the same venue that hosted the 2022 World Championship.
