A multi-lap battle with the European Championship runner-up, good starts, big fights - that's the result for Gender Tamás Junior at the World Karting Championship venue in October, the Franciacorta Karting Track, where the next round of the WSK Euro Series was held this weekend.
In Italy over the last weekend, Gender Tamás Junior took on more than 100 drivers in the OKJ category at the Lombardy circuit with Forza Racing. Round 1 of the WSK Euro Series saw 60 countries and more than 300 drivers in total take to the tarmac track, which is characterised by fast and technical sectors and changes in the track's inclination.
The weekend started well for the Hungarian Motorsport Academy-supported Hungarian kart racer, as he finished Friday's qualifying session in 13th place, just 4 tenths behind the leader in his group. He started from the seventh row in the heats and got off to a good start both times. In the second heat, he turned in eighth place and then lost several positions after two unideal decisions. Nevertheless, his racing technique - which allowed him to set a good pace on Friday - showed encouraging signs for Saturday's warm-up and races. With the maximum support of the Hungarian karting racer’s team, he was very motivated for the races, in which he was able to start well without exception. In the first race he was in a battle with the European Championship leader for several laps, but the weekend did not go as expected for Gender Tamás Junior. In the first race the Hungarian kart driver was pushed out and in the third race there was an accident in front of him, which he could only avoid from the outside, so he dropped from 15th to 29th place. Despite this, his race weekend was not unsuccessful, as his team says he is improving, working hard and maintaining a good pace throughout, which is promising for his next race weekend, which will again be held in Franciacorta in mid-September in the 2023 Euro Series Champions of the Future.
